Municipal Lawyer Magazine

Municipal Lawyer, IMLA’s flagship membership publication, is published in digital and hard copy every two months. ML’s feature articles provide in-depth analyses on issues of special interest to local government lawyers: recent features have covered legal implications of COVID-19 regulations, excessive force and qualified immunity matters, local ordinances in the wake of Reed, RLUIPA, sanctuary cities, developments in employment law, takings issues, legislative prayer, Fourth Amendment implications of high-tech surveillance, short-term housing, transportation network companies, drones, bikeshare, Section 1983 litigation, municipal finance and much more.

Other ML sections cover a broader range of topics, including Practice Tips (ordinance drafting, trial preparation, open meetings, and more), Supreme Court (the battle over qualified immunity, the Court’s changing politics, and more), Code Enforcement (limits on entry, condemnation policies, and more), Amicus (IMLA’s amicus activities), Inside Canada (recent cases of note), ListServ (a look at human interest aspects of municipal law practice), and others.

Many of ML’s writers are leading city and county attorneys, recognized academics and acknowledged domain experts in private practice.

IMLA welcomes submissions by members seeking to share their expertise.  Please forward proposed articles to Erich Eiselt, IMLA Assistant General Counsel, at eeiselt@IMLA.org.
