The International Municipal Lawyers Association ("IMLA," formerly the National Institute of Municipal Law Officers, "NIMLO") is a non-profit, professional organization based in the Washington D.C. area, that has been an advocate and valuable legal resource for local government attorney's since 1935. IMLA offers more than 1,400 members across the United States and Canada continuing legal education courses, research services, membership in substantive law sections, litigation assistance in the form of amicus briefs, a bi-monthly magazine (the Municipal Lawyer), model ordinance services, an electronic bi-weekly newsletter, and substanteive CLE accredited teleconferences.
